Upon the founding of the Temple of Set, Dr. Aquino related the word of Set as that of Xeper (pronounced Keffer.) Consider the following quote regarding this word:

In the Egyptian language it means, ‘I have come into being.’ It is the verb form of the noun Khefra, which was the beetle shaped god of dawn. He was said to be self-created, each morning. he is the epitome of all the feelings dawn invokes – new day, opportunities, hope, having made through the terrors of the night, etc….. The word contains two ideas, which are the key both to Setian practice and understanding of the Cosmos. The words are Being and Becoming.

As an interesting side note, in the Thelemic practice of Liber CC – Resh vel Helios, the A.’.A.’. Initiate performs sun adorations several times a day. At midnight, the aspirant faces the Northern direction and relates the midnight hour of the sun to Kephra the beetle god.

Lastly, at Midnight, let him greet the Sun, facing North, giving the sign of his grade, and let him say in a loud voice:
Hail unto thee who art Khephra in Thy hiding, even unto Thee who art Khephra in Thy silence, who travellest over the heavens in Thy bark at the Midnight Hour of the Sun.

Tahuti standeth in His splendour at the prow, and Ra-Hoor abideth at the helm.

Hail unto Thee from the Abodes of Evening.
